Introduction to Theatre with the Ginger Dog Theatre Company 

‘An introduction to Theatre’ is a series of workshops for Open Doors. You are welcome to join us for all three or experience them individually as stand-alone sessions. Let Ginger Dog Theatre guide you through the joy of theatre creation and working as an ensemble company.

Time Travel Tots

We're bringing the Museum to you! Donna our Learning and Participation Officer will be visiting several venues with different themes each month (January until April). So if you want to discover the Stone Age, Ancient Egypt, the Romans and Medieval Times through learn and play then look below for where we will be across the district!

Palace Players

The Social Action Hub at Rainworth, Tuesday 16th, 23rd, 30th April and 7th May, 10.30am - 11.30am

Calling all mini movers and groovers! It’s time to dance, make music and have some fun with Open Doors’ early years music and movement session, Palace Players. Bring your grownups to The Social Action Hub for a FREE hour of musical fun, play, and storytelling! Any children aged 0-4 are welcome and must be accompanied by a parent or carer with a (free) ticket.

Art Skills Drawing Club

Every third Saturday of the month (until 16th March), 1pm to 3pm

Suitable for beginners and beyond, join Artist in Residence Vanessa Stone to use some of the museum’s objects and Vanessa’s own quirky artefacts as inspiration for creative drawing. All materials provided and booking essential. Age 18+

Saturday 18th November: Exploiting pencils

Vanessa will help you to look at all the different ways a humble pencil can make marks and effects.

 

 

Saturday 16th December: Composition

Saturday 20th January: Resist Techniques

An expressive, colourful artwork of foliage in various shades of creates

Discover techniques to create contrast and texture, using wax crayons and masking fluid.

 

 

Saturday 17th February: Gouache vs acrylic

Colourful paintings of flowers and kites

Look at how much gouache and acrylic differ so much and how to use them.

 

 

Saturday 16th March: Let’s get inky

An ink picture of yellow flowers and foliage

Embracing the fluid qualities of drawing ink.
